READ FOR LIFE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO A VERY EXCITING YEAR !
WE RAISED ENOUGH FOR US TO BE ABLE TO DO ALL THE RENOVATIONS SO THEY ARE CURRENTLY BEING COMPLETED.
ALL THE CLASSROOMS ARE DONE AND NOW BEING USED - ONLY WAITING FOR ONE SMALL AREA TO BE CONCRETED.
WE RAISED ENOUGH TO GET NEW DESKS AND CHAIRS MADE AND TO BUY MORE BOOKS - ALWAYS ON THE LOOK OUT FOR MORE BOOKS THOUGH!
WE STARTED FEEDING THE CHILDREN A MONTH AGO AND HAVE HAD A BEAUTIFUL NEW COOK JOIN OUR TEAM - EACH SESSION GETS A CUP OF HOT PORRIDGE AND A SAMOSA ( a samosa is a yummy triangle full of vegetables and peas- hard to explain - a bit like a spring roll kind of - but bigger )
WE PLAN TO CHANGE THIS TO FEED THEM RICE AND BEANS IN A FEW MONTHS AFTER WE HAVE THE COOKING FACILITIES BUILD BETTER.
ITS GOING TO BE AN EXCITING YEAR WITH SO MUCH MORE PLANNED FOR READ FOR LIFE !
ENJOY SOME OF THE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS FROM THE FIRST DAY WE STARTED FEEDING THE KIDS - THEY WERE EXTREMELY EXCITED!
One of our precious girls leading the baby class in prayer before eating.
I love this picture - shows class is in session
Treaching good hygiene practices.
Enjoying their porridge and samosa
Our wonderful cook- a local lady from Katanga slum
The baby class enjoying their food - Notice Hezekiah sitting a bit further away - they were fascinated by him when I sat him with them - so much so they wouldn't eat cause they wanted to touch him - so had to move him a little further away.
Once the novelty wears off I'm sure they'll be use to him and he to them.
